What's Up With Us

A podcast that talks about the things you're thinking about!

Episode #4: To Cell Phone Or Not To Cell Phone

Have you ever walked into a restaurant and all you see are people on their cell phones? There are two people who should be sharing a meal but instead of talking to each other, they are both in their own worlds, swiping or clicking away. What is the point of going out together then? Is it not possible to share one meal without your mind being elsewhere?

What about you? Are you reading this on your cell phone right now? Do you remember the days when we didn’t have a cell phone attached to our hands?

It seems as though we are in an era where everyone we know has a cell phone. And not only do we all have them but they are constantly in front of our face or at our fingertips. It seems as though the phones and our hands are permanently connected. So why is that we need to use every free moment we have to distract ourselves? Shouldn’t we learn to just be?

Is it possible to go through a day without looking at the phone? We want to know. Take the WuWu challenge and put your phone for a meal, half a day, or an entire day! Live in the moment. Look around and be in your own life instead of talking to people who are not currently present in front of you.

Kadam and Shailee are going to discuss the situation where Shailee ended up without a phone for an entire 5 days on Episode 4 of What’s Up With Us. Tune in and let us know what you think!

Episode #3: Prenups

Have you ever been approached about signing a prenuptial agreement? Were you offended? Or did you just think it was something practical that needed to be discussed between you and your significant other?

The idea of a prenup is something that has been around for years. And with the divorce rates as being as high as they are, it’s not surprising. We wondered how many people had signed one or had been asked to sign one.

We will also be talking a little bit on gay marriage as well.

The topic for Episode 3 of What’s Up With Us is prenuptial agreements. Let us know what you think. We would love to hear from you!

Episode #2: Sports Is What Is Up With Us!

This week we want to take the show in a whole new direction. We want to talk about something that is near and dear to a lot of our hearts: sports!

There has been a lot going on in the world of women’s sports within the last month. It’s definitely been worth paying attention to lately. We will be talking about Ronda Rousey, Serena Williams, the women’s soccer team, and much more.

We wanted to talk about some great sports movies as well. What are your favorites and why?

Can you think of an athlete that you just wish would retire already? Is it someone you love or someone you hate? Why do you want to see him or her retire?

Kadam and Shailee are going to talk sports on Episode 2 of What’s Up With Us. We would love to hear from you!

Episode 1: Buyer’s Remorse & The Friend Zone

Play from Soundcloud

Tell us if you have ever run into this problem. You find the man/woman of your dreams. You start to date them. Almost as soon as this happens, you feel like you are either missing out on something or settling for something. You feel like there has to be someone better out there for you. What you are experiencing is buyer’s remorse.

The questions are whether or not everyone feels it when they start dating someone and is it something that has become more prevalent now that we have so many more options available to us because of technology. Would we have felt it if our options were just limited to those people we were actually within reach of or does it exist regardless of options?

So maybe buyer’s remorse isn’t your main problem quite yet because you get stuck in the friend zone every time you meet someone interesting. You know, that zone that the object of your desire sticks you in by telling you “Let’s just be friends” before you even have a chance to get into the door? Yeah, that friend zone. What happens so that you get stuck there and how the hell do you get out?

It’s definitely a problem many people have found themselves facing over and over again.

Kadam and Shailee are going to discuss both of these situations on Episode 1 of What’s Up With Us. Tune in and let us know what you think!

Hello everyone!

Welcome to What’s up With us or as we go by, WuWu. We are a newpodcast starting up to discuss the things we see around us and what we think of them. There are three of us on this super team and we wanted to introduce ourselves and the show to you.

The Team:

Kadam Malik: One of the awesome hosts of the show. This show was a way for him to have better conversations with good people, be the voice of those people who aren’t able to share their opinions, be objective without being dismissive of what’s real, future forward in thinking and being aware of past problems, and have a place to debate Tupac versus Biggie.

Shailee Butalia: The other host of the show. She has years of life experience and opinions on absolutely everything. She has been sharing these opinions on http://www.whowearetoday.com for 2 years but now is expanding to put her actual voice on the issues of today. Sometimes she does the show just to be able to argue with Kadam.

Simran Butalia: The best producer that a podcast could have. He is here because he supports his wife in every endeavor she embarks on.

Now that you know a little bit about us, we wanted to explain what the show was about. This podcast is a forum to debate various topics that are prevalent in our society today and raise awareness in an entertaining way. It is a way to analyze and redefine the culture we grew up with new ideas. It’s also a way to talk about the stuff that isn’t always talked about in public and figuring out if it’s really as big a deal as everyone makes it out to be. And it’s a place to occasionally talk about the Lakers.

We hope you will join us as we begin this project, this journey. We want to hear your feedback and opinions as well.

Here we go! Enjoy!
